How do you P-Touch? |
|
| |
|
PtouchDirect.com has a contest which
simply asks, "How Do You P-touch". We're
giving away a free P-touch Printer for the winning entry. Although we just
started this in September we've already heard some pretty
interesting ideas and thought it would be fun to
share them with our customers.

OUR
LAST WINNER:
Susan
from
Corpus Christi, TX
who won our
last "How Do You P-touch?" contest
and picked up a new PT1000
label maker!
You can use labels for virtually anything and
Susan uses them to bring comfort to children
- that's great!
"The PT-1950 P-touch that I use belongs
to the Volunteer Auxiliary at Driscoll
Children’s Hospital.. I am the
Chairperson of Room Service for the
hospital and as such it is my
responsibility to receive VHS
donations. The Auxiliary has bought VHS
players for 110 rooms at the hospital.
Room Service delivers the videos to the
children in the hospital.
As
Chairperson I label each video with
the name and assign them numbers.
After each use we must wipe them
down with antiseptic for safety.
Therefore the P-touch labels
TZ have come in very handy with the
lamination. We now have over 1000
videos available to be checked out.
The videos are a source of comfort
to the children and a lifesaver to
the parents as they make the time go
faster."

PREVIOUS WINNER:
Peggy from
Chandler, AZ
who won our last "How Do You P-touch?" contest and
picked up a new
PT1000 label maker!
You can use
labels for virtually anything but to ensure
proper pet care was a new one for us - great
idea Peggy!
I use my old
P-touch 1100
(which I have had forever!) to label just about
anything in our home. My main two labeling
projects are:
For scrap
booking...I love to use the clear background
labels to add quotes, comments and dates, places
to my scrap booking pages...they blend in with
the scrap booking background pages and add just
an extra touch and extra information to the
page.
For pets...my
child has numerous animals, dogs, rabbits,
gerbils. I use the p-touch to label all the
food containers, which animal gets which food,
how often to feed, etc. as well as the different
supplements, treats. etc. It has really helped
her and me to keep everything straight and came
in very handy when we went on vacation and one
of her friends had to come over and take care of
the animals. No long lists to prepare, all the
info she needed was right there on the packages.

PREVIOUS WINNER: R. Stewart of Cabin John, MD
picked up a new PT1400 label maker! "We
have a small condo unit in Maine which is rented out most of
the year. I have labeled all of the light switches,
instructions for the microwave which has a unique operation
system, the TV/VCR remotes, the switches in the electrical
panel, inside of the kitchen cabinets - to advise of the
contents - , and the trash/ garbage cans as the community
has a weird set of rules as to what is garbage and what can
be recycled - they have six separate types.
I use it for file folders, identifying the various (7)
drives on my computer as well as the cables and power
supplies attached to my VOIP system."

Other Ways People P-touch |

Helen from
Kailua-Kona, HI
We use it to label our client files on 8-part
classification folders. Also some file cabinet
labels to overwrite on forms which are too small
on which to type or word process. Etc etc etc!

Stuart from
XM Satellite Radio
We love
P-Touch around here at XM Satellite Radio! One of
our more creative uses is for labeling our parking
hangtags. We use the employee’s telephone extension
number for their hangtag number… that way when a car
needs to be identified or moved, the person’s
telephone extension is right there on display in
their windshield! We use UV resistant tape in our
PT-70, so it holds up in the sun.

Carolyn Macomb, MI My
Brother P touch has been a big help in the past
few years and as time goes by I find more and more
uses. I label the standard file folders, plastic
shoe boxes so I don't have to open each box to be
sure it's the right pair and the shelves of my linen
closet are labeled so the rest of the family and
guests can find things with ease. My father in law
gave the last idea two thumbs up when they visited
from out of state. The BEST idea I have to share is
to label eyeglass cases with name and phone number.
I have reading, computer and sun glasses. I labeled
my parents cases but in larger and bold lettering as
their eyesight is not quite as sharp these days.
And if accidentally left behind on an errand,
someone can read the label and return them to you.

James from Plainfield, New
Jersey uses the P-touch 1200, with TZ 9mm 3/8
tape.
I teach English as a second
,to adults that have recently immigrated to the
USA. I use my P-touch to explain the alphabet
and then after explaining the use of the
P-touch, I have each student use the machine to
type their name and place it on their reading
and writing booklets.
While we native speakers of
English take word usage for granted, it takes an
entire lesson to accomplish the
aforementioned simple task because each word
usage in English must be explained, which
includes simply saying "take this". Each
student experiences a tremendous sense of
accomplishment at having understood the English
words and actually using the machine after
following the instructions given in English.

Shirley Norcross,
GAHow do I P-Touch???
Let me count the ways. My basement is used
primarily for storage of everything from tools
to holiday decorations as well as supplies used
in the making of a soup mix I sell
commercially. Each box, bin and container is
clearly marked with my P-Touch labels. Friends
and family can't believe it and have asked that
I "P-Touch" their homes. It has been a little
difficult in convincing them they can do it
themselves, but I have, especially when I tell
them I don't have to find everything for my
husband...with P-Touch labels he find whatever
he needs himself.
I have had a
P-Touch for years, and it is my dream to have
one that makes even larger labels since I have
serious vision problems. It doesn't matter
though, because everything on each floor is
clearly marked and I can manage with multiple
store rooms, closets and business office to find
just what I need easily. Even my P-Touch is
stored in a plastic shoe box clearly marked by
my labeler.

Mary
Lake Villa, IL
I use my labeler
when I am putting our vacation pictures, garden
pictures, etc into a photo album. I use the ¼”
tape and it works beautifully. With the ¼” tape
you can put a complete explanation of any of all
of the clear sleeves that the photos slide
into. Also I use the ½” or ¾” tape to label the
album itself and putting explanations on the
inside of the covers of what is contained in
that particular album.
My son raises
Bonsai trees and Orchids. He finds that ¾”
yellow tape perfect for labeling the name,
specie and cultivar of each plant. He also
labels all of the organic foods he uses on his
plants.
We really enjoy
our labeler.

B. Grobe of Broken Arrow, OK
I use p-touch labels to label all my electronic
and computer equipment with labels I can
actually read; big enough text and some are in
color to highlight them.
Most electronic equipment is now black in color
and labels are difficult to read, especially in
dim lighting. P-touch labels make all the
difference! I put them on patch cords to
identify the connections and they organize all
my hookups. I label remote controls, too.

P. Raugh
Did you ever see a shelf marked
"ATHLETIC SUPPORTERS"?
My husband never puts anything
away in the same place twice and is completely
flummoxed with most type of filing. While I'm
not OCD, there have been numerous confrontations
living with his level off disorder for 45 years.
Now I've got just about every
shelf, cupboard, storage box in the house marked
- from A (athletic supporter) to Z (LARGE box of
Zucchini recopies).
The P-Touch has made my
husband's life a lot easier!!!!!

Rachel from A Flavorful Cup
I use 1/4 inch tape to label stackable 1
1/4"clear square plastic containers with the
names of candle scent samples. The customer can
select the labled scents they want to purchase
easily because the name is in full view.
 |
| T. Aguisanda of Los Alamito, CA Our company uses
the labels for marking all of our items shipping
out to our office in Vegas from our California
office, they are put on saw blades, which
include our customers name, description of item,
work order numbers etc. This works great for
not mixing up the blades and matching up paper
work to the saw blade is quick and easy, we use
about 150 to 200 labels per shipment.

| J. Shafer of San Fransico, CA I
am a big fan of the bound photo books that you
can make with your digital photos.
Unfortunately, the spines on these books are
all blank and you can't tell one from another
when they are on a shelf with the spines out. So
I print titles on the special cloth-backed 1/2"
ptouch label material and carefully iron them on
to the spine of each book. The cloth tapes
blends perfectly with the book cover, the heat
set glue makes them permanent and the blue color
of the lettering goes with most any color of
cover.
That's what I do with my ptouch.
 |
| K. Weiland DakenSkys
I will be using the 1/2" clear labels with white
printing to make legends for switches that I
sell for airplane simulators. The original
switches for all the Boeing jets have white
printing on the front of the pushbutton switches
that the pilots use, and I had no clue as to how
to make these until I found the P-Touch clear
labels with white printing.

| S. Budahl Tri Met Rail Operations ID PAL
Labeling Tool;
We have used another name brand label maker for
years, but it mainly creates regular type labels
for marking electrical service panels, tool
box's, etc. We were also buying expensive
sticky back pull off cloth labels for our
electrical wire labeling, which is time
consuming with one number or letter at a time
per application. We found we needed a more cost
effective way of making electrical wire labels.
So we purchased 6 ID Pal's one for each work
van; (We maintain electrical substations for
light rail vehicles) We found these to be very
useful and cost effective. We also found that
the use for the ID Pal's was immense. We found
we could buy cloth, vinyl, laminated, any style
label cartridge in any size needed and could
print wire labels as well as banner style, so we
no longer use our other name brand label maker
that was really a one trick pony and now use our
ID Pal exclusively for wire marking, service
panel marking, breaker designations and tool box
labeling, and so much more I don't have the room
to tell you. We now stock 3 different label
types in 1/4"-3/8"-1/2"and 3/4" sizes and have
saved a lot of money in the process. It is the
best cost effective buy we have made in a long
while.
 |
| Sharon from Temperance, MI I have used my
P-Touch for 6 years now and I think it is great.
Here at work I use it to label file folder for
our jobs, for my filing cabinet labels, both
inside on the file folders and outside on the
file cabinet drawer. This makes for easy access
and great organization. We also use the P-Touch
for labeling drawers in the shop that hold small
tooling pieces. The uses are endless.

| I.B. Miller of L. Miller & Son, INC OUR FIRM
USES A BROTHER P-TOUCH LABEL MAKER TO MAKE
LABELS FOR FILE FOLDERS IN OUR FILE CABINETS.
THE LABELS HAVE LARGER LETTERS THAN TYPED LABELS
AND THE P-TOUCH LABELS ARE MORE DURABLE THAN
STICK- ON TYPED PAPER LABELS.
