LM tapes are compatible replacements for Brother M tape, made by a third party and not by Brother. Like genuine M tape, they are non-laminated: the text prints directly on the tape surface. They stick best to flat, dry surfaces like folders, binders, bins, shelves and school supplies.

Frequently asked questions

Will LM tapes work in my Brother P-touch?

Yes, if your printer uses M tape. LM compatible M tapes are the same size as Brother M cassettes. Find your printer in Step 1 above.

What's the difference between LM and genuine Brother M tape?

LM tapes are compatible replacements made by a third party, and they cost less. Genuine Brother M tapes are made by Brother and are listed in our Brother M Tape Guide.

How do I match my current tape?

Check the part number on your current cassette. The LM part number uses the same code with LM- in front. For example, Brother M231 matches LM-M231.

Which width do I need?

The width is printed on your current cassette. Choose 3/8" (9mm) for small items and 1/2" (12mm) for larger, easier-to-read labels.

Can LM M tape be used outdoors?

It's not recommended. Like genuine M tape, LM tape has no laminate layer, so it can fade or wear outside. For outdoor labels, a TZe label maker is the better choice.
